AFP Commissioner
Commissioner Tony Negus has been a member of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) since 1982. He holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Administration and a Graduate Diploma in Executive Leadership.
Commissioner Negus has completed an Executive Leadership Program at Harvard University, in the United States and is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
In June 2005 Commissioner Negus was named in the Queen’s Birthday honours list and awarded the Australian Police Medal.
During his career with the AFP, Commissioner Negus has worked in a variety of fields, including community policing, federal investigations, training, protection and human resources. He has been the officer in charge of both the AFP Brisbane and Sydney Offices.
Mr Negus was appointed as the Commissioner of the AFP on 7 September 2009 and has responsibility for the operation and direction of the AFP. He also serves on various boards for other law enforcement agencies including as the chair of the Australian Crime Commission.
