Commissioner's Commendations are the second-highest level of recognition within the AFP Internal Awards Framework.
Commissioner's Commendation for Bravery
Recognises an individual who has performed in the discharge of their duty, an act of bravery of a high order and placed themselves at substantial risk of personal injury.
Commissioner's Commendation for Conspicuous Conduct
Recognises an individual who has demonstrated outstanding dedication to duty in circumstances demanding tenacity of a high order.
Commissioner's Commendation for Excellence in Overseas Service
Recognises the display of excellence in overseas service while undertaking core business and adhering to the corporate values of the AFP.
Commissioner's Commendation for Hazardous Overseas Service
Recognises devotion to duty in overseas service while operating in hazardous circumstances and/or environments.
What does the recipient receive?
A commendation to wear at ceremonial occasions
- A miniature of the commendation to wear at mess functions and other formal dining occasions
- A ribbon bar to wear on AFP uniform
- A certificate outlining the circumstances for the recognition
How are the Commissioners' Commendations presented?
Only the AFP Commissioner can present the Commendation for Bravery.
Only the AFP Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner's or Chief Operating Officer can present the other three commendations.
