Neighbourhood Watch
Neighbourhood Watch is a successful community based crime prevention program aimed at the protection of property and personal safety.
Neighbourhood Watch involves communities:
- developing initiatives and educating residents on personal safety
- encouraging neighbours to get to know each other, and
- fostering partnerships between Neighbourhood Watch and other organisations such as Scouts, Diversion Programs, Schools and Business and local Resident Associations.
The success of Neighbourhood Watch depends largely on a commitment to cooperate between residents and the police and importantly between the residents themselves. ACT Policing actively supports Neighbourhood Watch. ACT Policing delivers personal and community safety messages through regular meetings and information nights.
