Volunteers in policing

Collage of volunteers at several events

The AFP’s Volunteers in Policing Program operates within the ACT, in support of the activities of ACT Policing. The team is a diverse group from a variety of backgrounds and brings a broad range of skills and experience to ACT Policing.

As a Police Volunteer, you have the opportunity to help make a difference to your community, whether it’s with events, communications, administration or program support. Being a Police Volunteer is one of the most satisfying and rewarding volunteer programs the country has to offer.

We have opportunities for volunteers with a whole range of different skills, knowledge and experience in a huge range of roles and locations.
Some roles include:

  • front office support at police stations
  • assistance at community events (i.e. Canberra Show and Multicultural Festival)
  • ceremonial support (award investitures)
  • catering at training exercises and workshops
  • role playing for police recruit training

After your application is submitted, your details will be included on the Volunteers in Policing database. We will then send you an email if AFP requires your skills and expertise for this program.
