Location

Christmas Island is an external Australian Territory located in the Indian Ocean, 2600km northwest of Perth, Western Australia.

Climate

The Island experiences a tropical equatorial climate with wet and dry seasons.

The wet season is from December to April and northwest monsoons are responsible for the high rainfall and humidity. Annual rainfall is approximately 12,000 mls a year. This time of year sees the annual red crab migration to the Island.

From April through to December, the dry season brings slightly lower temperatures and much less rain. Temperatures on the island vary little from around 28° Celsius.
