A team of four Australian Federal Police (AFP) members provide the full range of  community policing services (including search and rescue coordination) within the small, predominantly Indigenous community.

Location

The Jervis Bay Territory (JBT) comprises about 6,677 hectares on the southern shores of Jervis Bay, approximately 200 km south of Sydney by road. The Territory consists of a mainland area of just over 6,500 ha, about 800 ha of marine waters and Bowen Island (51 ha).

Climate and Environment

The Jervis Bay region lies in an overlap between the northern and southern climatic zones. The range of habitats include:
oceanic waters, bay waters of varying depths, intertidal rock platforms and beaches, estuarine waters, recent and ancient dune systems, coastal cliffs, heaths, forests, swamps and perched lakes.
