Multimedia: Island home
Release Date: Friday, September 17 2010, 01:26 PM
There are approximately 1000 islands in the Solomon Islands and some 1100 officers in the entire Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.
As such, AFP members assigned to the RAMSI Participating Police Force in the Solomon Islands can find themselves working in the most remote regions of the Pacific.
AFP officer Mark Tyrrell has been working at Malu’u, a police out-post on the island of Malaita, where food arrives by boat, mail by helicopter and the nearest sealed road is almost two-hours drive away.
