Multimedia: Remembering September 11

Release Date: Friday, September 09 2011, 04:43 PM

The series of coordinated attacks against targets in the United States of America on September 11 2001 sent shockwaves through communities around the world and changed, forever, the way we view terrorism and security.

While recognising the insidious nature of these attacks, AFP Commissioner Tony Negus has encouraged all AFP staff to take time this week to remember the victims who lost their lives and their family and friends, who were personally affected by these tragic events.

In the times since 9/11 a number of potential terrorist attacks on Australian soil have been thwarted.

In this video, Commissioner Negus talks about the well established relationships the AFP has internationally and how countries all around the world had to reassess their views on potential threats of terrorist related activities.
