Media Release: Update on additional charges in Operation Appleby investigation

Another three men have been charged today by the Joint Counter Terrorism Team (JCTT) Sydney as part of the ongoing Operation Appleby investigation.

The men – aged 21, 22 and 22 – are currently in custody in NSW in relation to other charges laid as part of Operation Appleby in December 2014 and January 2015.

All three have each been charged with one count of conspiracy to conduct an act in preparation for a terrorist act, contrary to section 101.6, by virtue of section 11.5, of the Commonwealth Criminal Code Act 1995.

One of the 22-year-old men was scheduled to appear before Sydney Central Local Court this afternoon.

The other 22-year-old man and the 21-year-old man have been refused police bail and are scheduled to appear before Sydney Central Local Court on Wednesday, 16 December.

A 20-year-old Raby man and a 15-year-old male from Georges Hall were arrested at their homes earlier this morning, and then later charged with the same offence.
