Police support UN's eliminate violence against women campaign

25 November 2004

ACT Policing officers wore white ribbons supporting the UN's International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women campaign on November 25, 2004. The United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) Australia designated November 25 as a White Ribbon Day - a nation-wide action aimed at eliminating violence against women and children in our society. ACT Policing Chief Police Officer, John Davies said the organisation supported the UN campaign because it condemned all forms of violence against women in the community.
