ACT Policing farewells Chaplain Theo Freeth

15 November 2004

A large turnout of ACT Policing members farewelled the much-loved former AFP Police Chaplain Theo Freeth, at a service at Ainslie All Saints Church. Chaplain Freeth passed away at Clare Holland House after celebrating his last Holy Communion with his family on November 7, 2004. He was farewelled on November 15. Eulogies were given by family members Rick Freeth, Belinda Fulton (nee Freeth), Sir Owen Croft and retired Assistant Commissioner Denis McDermott, APM to the many people who attended the service. Retired Assistant Commissioner Denis McDermott told the congregation that Theo was a big man with a big voice that when needed to be heard - was.

"He spoke up for the downtrodden, the bereaved, the harassed and the troubled. He patched pathways between people and their God, mended messy marriages and would listen intently to problems," Mr McDermott said.
