Over 500 attend Woden Station open day

ACT Policing held an open day at Woden Police Station today (September 22) between 10am and 2pm.

Over 500 people visited the station and took the opportunity to talk to their local police and inspect the inner-workings of the station.

Officer in charge of Woden Police Station, Sergeant Frank Jamieson said, “this was a great opportunity for the Canberra community to speak with some of their local police officers and find out more information about how they can help the police in keeping Canberra a safe place to live.”

“Today we had displays from Traffic Operations, Crime Prevention, Special Response and Security, Water Operations, Bomb Response Team, Disaster Victim Identification and AFP Forensics. These areas are all involved in policing Canberra and today provided a valuable insight into ACT Policing.”

Crowds of people flocked to listen to information about the Special Response and Security’s Bomb Response Team’s robot and see it in action.

Children and adults alike scrambled to have their photos taken on the police bikes and in the police vehicles and boats on display.

From the generosity of the Canberra community the Chequered Ribbon Association received over $1000 in donations.
