Offender escapes after robbery at restaurant

Monday, 08 October 2007

ACT Policing is investigating an armed robbery at a Civic restaurant around 10.50pm on Sunday (October 7).

The owner attended the Marcus Clarke Street restaurant after alarms had activated from within the premises. As he approached the rear door of the premises he was confronted by an offender armed with a knife.

The offender held the knife to the owner’s throat causing a small cut to his neck, which did not require medical attention. The offender ran off in the direction of Barry Drive with a sum of cash.

The offender is described as 6 feet (183cm) tall, thin build, wearing a balaclava with a “letterbox” slit for his eyes, blue/grey jeans, a dark vinyl jacket and old white sneakers.

Police would urge anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the Marcus Clarke Street area, or who may know the identity of the offender to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
