Copper wire theft at Hume

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a burglary at the former saw mill in Tralee Street, Hume.

Sometime between the hours of 6pm, Wednesday, August 20 and 7am, Thursday, August 21, offenders have gained access to a timber storage shed at the old saw mill and used an onsite forklift to remove three baskets containing approximately eight tonnes of scrap copper wiring on to a Toyota Dyna flat-bed truck (ACT registration YDV 65P) which was also stolen from the site.

The offenders allegedly also removed four 20-inch Super Sport mag wheels from a utility which was parked in the shed.

The total value of stolen property is estimated to be around $55,000.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen suspicious persons or seen a Toyota Dyna flat-bed truck in the area of Tralee Street, Hume between the hours of 6pm, Wednesday, August 20 and 7am, Thursday, August 21 to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
