Downer woman to face Phillip burglary charges

Tuesday, 08 July 2008

A 28-year-old Downer woman will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (July 8) after being arrested for the alleged burglary of a Phillip florist on Sunday, July 6.

Members of Woden General Duties patrols and the Territory Investigations Group (TIG) initially executed a search warrant on the woman’s house about 6.30pm yesterday (July 7) in relation to the theft of cash from a Woden Plaza shop on Sunday night.

Following the warrant, patrols identified a vehicle being driven by the alleged offender on Swinden Street, Downer and executed a second search warrant on the car. The 28-year-old was taken into custody.

Police will allege the female scaled a security barrier about 6.15pm on Sunday night and stole takings from the florist, before fleeing in a vehicle.

The alleged offender will appear today charged with one count of burglary and theft.
