Gungahlin aggravated burglary; man arrested

Thursday, 21 August 2008

ACT Policing has arrested a 24-year-old man after a short pursuit with a silver-coloured Honda Civic sports model which is alleged to have been stolen in an aggravated burglary at a Gungahlin residence earlier today (Thursday, August 21).

The burglary is alleged to have occurred around 11.20am today when the victim, who had been asleep upstairs in his townhouse, heard a noise downstairs and went to investigate. The victim was then confronted and threatened by the alleged offender with the jemmy bar.

Police will also allege the offender failed to stop after police attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Flemington Road about 4.05pm today. A pursuit ensued for approximately five minutes through the northern suburbs of Canberra before the vehicle stopped outside Exhibition Park.

The alleged offender will face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow charged with multiple offences.
