High profile RAPID campaign nets 42 unregistered vehicles

ACT Policing’s Traffic Operations has conducted its second major RAPID (Recognition and Analysis of Plates IDentified) deployment within a week, this time detecting 42 unregistered vehicles and arresting two disqualified drivers.
Working in conjunction with ACT Road and Traffic Authority (RTA) vehicle inspectors, Traffic Operations used RAPID at four separate locations on Canberra’s northside: Cook, Kaleen, Florey and Flynn.
This deployment was conducted over two days: Tuesday, July 22, and Wednesday, July 23. During the previous two-day deployment (July 15 & 16), 45 unregistered vehicles were detected.
During this most recent activity, the following results were recorded:
- 42 unregistered vehicles detected;
- 23 uninsured vehicles detected;
- 19 licence-related offences;
- 79 vehicle defects (minor and major);
- 27 Traffic Infringement Notices issued;
- 2 disqualified drivers arrested;
- 3 summons issued for driving offences.
In addition, police conducted 1807 roadside random breath tests, with two positive tests recorded.
