Man sought by police after indecent exposure

Wednesday, 18 June 2008

ACT Policing is investigating an incident yesterday (June 16) when a male exposed himself to a 12-year-old girl in Gowrie.

The incident occurred around 3.55pm on the bike path near the pedestrian underpass bridge off Isabella Drive and Ashley Drive, where the offender approached the victim and stopped her whilst she was riding her bike. He then proceeded to expose himself to her.

The victim screamed for help alerting three teenage girls nearby. The offender then fled the scene as the teenagers ran to help the victim.

The male is described as aged between 16 and 23 years of age, with an olive complexion, a goatee beard and riding a small BMX style bicycle. He was wearing a dark blue or black hooded track top with pockets in the front which is described as being too big for him. He was also wearing black or dark blue track pants with white writing near the hip area.

Anyone who may know the identity of this male, or who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the Gowrie area yesterday afternoon is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the website at www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
