Suspicious fire at Trinity Christian College

Thursday, 07 August 2008

ACT Policing is investigating a suspicious fire at Trinity Christian College, Wanniassa early this morning.

About 3.45am, police attended the McBryde Crescent address upon request from ACT Fire Brigade and found a large amount of smoke billowing from the roof of a building attached to one of the schools main wings.

The fire appears to have started in a wheelie bin which was found adjacent to a locked wooden door of the building. Police were advised the building housed a storeroom which is used for text book storage and photocopying.

The damage is estimated to be around $100,000.

ACT Fire Brigade units attended and extinguished the fire.

Police are treating the fire as suspicious; AFP Forensic Services will examine the scene this morning for evidence. Investigations are ongoing.

Police would urge anyone who may have seen suspicious persons in the area of the school early this morning to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
