Tip-off leads to arrest of alleged burglar
Thursday, 24 July 2008
A phone call from a member of the public to ACT Policing Operations has helped investigators arrest a 29-year-old man in Belconnen yesterday (July 23).
Police received a report of a vehicle positioned in the middle of Totterdell Street about 3.15pm. Members of Belconnen Crime arrived at the location and identified a silver-coloured BMW as similar in appearance to one taken during a Fadden burglary on July 22.
Officers from Property Crime Team and Belconnen General Duties attended and identified a suspect in the nearby units and pursued him on foot across several balconies. He was eventually apprehended by police and taken into custody.
He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (July 24) charged with burglary, theft, taking a motor vehicle without consent, resisting a commonwealth official (police), and breach of bail.
