Witnesses sought to theft of ATM

Thursday, 02 October 2008

ACT Policing is appealing for witnesses to a robbery in Fyshwick during which an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) was taken.

Around 6.30am today (October 2) police attended the Game and Poultry shop at Fyshwick Markets, Dalby Street to reports of a burglary and the theft of a free standing ATM.

The incident appears to have occurred sometime between 9pm and 5am, when staff of surrounding businesses arrived at work. The offender(s) forced entry to the premises and appear to have used a vehicle to remove the ATM.

A significant amount of cash was in the machine at the time of the theft.

CCTV footage from surrounding businesses is being examined in an attempt to identify the offenders.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen or heard suspicious persons or activity around Fyshwick Market on Dalby Street last night, or who may have information to assist the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
