Woman to be extradited over Wanniassa incident

Friday, 22 August 2008

ACT Policing will seek the extradition of a 40-year-old woman from NSW to face a charge of culpable driving causing death.

The extradition follows an incident in Wanniassa early today (Friday, August 22) in which a man was found lying unconscious on Carr Crescent, and suffering from serious head injuries.

The injured man was treated at the scene by ACT Ambulance officers but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police then began a search for a white Mitsubishi Lancer sedan which was believed to have been involved in the incident.

The car was located at a Queanbeyan residence this morning. From that residence, NSW Police took the 40-year-old alleged offender into custody.

Police are continuing their appeal to witnesses who may be able to provide information about the incident and would urge anyone who can assist the investigation to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online via the website at www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
