WWII medals stolen from Ainslie

ACT Policing is investigating the theft of World War II medals from an Ainslie veteran.

The incident is thought to have occurred on Sunday July 13, and was reported to police on Tuesday (July 29) after he discovered the medals (pictured), personal documents and sum of cash to be missing.

The service medals include:

  • Australian Service Medal 1945-1975
  • 1939-1945 Star

The 86-year-old victim was approached on Sunday July 13 by three men offering to do some work on his home.

The victim believes that one of these men, described as in his fifties, approximately 6’ (183cm) tall, with a stocky build, entered his home and removed the items.

Police would urge anyone who may know the identity of these men or who may know the whereabouts of the stolen items to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the website www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
