Arrests made after Reid incident

ACT Policing has arrested a 40-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth after an incident in the early hours of Saturday (June 27).
Police were called to a residence in Reid after reports of a home invasion and assault were received.
Around 1am a 39-year-old man and his 32-year-old defacto partner contacted police after it is alleged the two men entered their home, assaulting the male and attempting to steal items from the house.
When confronted by a neighbour as they left the premises they allegedly assaulted the male neighbour who is now receiving treatment in hospital for a suspected broken ankle and lacerations.
The alleged offenders then barricaded themselves inside a nearby residence and refused to surrender to police.
The Special Response and Security Tactical and Negotiator Teams attended the scene and peacefully resolved the incident, with the males taken into police custody around 5.30am.
The 40-year-old man from Reid will face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow (June 29) charged with three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of aggravated burglary.
The 17-year-old male youth will face the ACT Children’s Court tomorrow (June 29) charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of aggravated burglary.
