Mawson aggravated robbery; two arrested

ACT Policing patrols were flagged down during the early hours of today (June 28) by two 19-year-old victims stating they had been beaten and robbed.
The males stated that after leaving a friends birthday party in Mawson around 12.15am, one of them was approached by two males who demanded money, before assaulting the victim.
The first victim ran off calling for help from his friend who came to his aid. The two victims were then approached by a larger group of men who are alleged to have chased and beaten the victims, stealing items of personal property.
Police located five males in the Mawson area matching the description of the alleged offenders.
Two of these males, an 18-year-old from Chifley and a 19-year-old from Fisher, were arrested and will face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow (June 29) charged with aggravated robbery, attempted aggravated robbery and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
