Men arrested for alleged attempted armed robbery

ACT Policing has arrested two men in relation to an alleged attempted aggravated robbery in Turner yesterday afternoon (June 28).
The two alleged offenders were identified by police travelling in a stolen motor vehicle towards the Canberra North Bowling Club about 6.30pm. Police will allege the men were planning to rob the premises.
Members from the Specialist Response and Security Tactical Response team executed a high-risk vehicle intercept on the alleged stolen vehicle on Bluebell Street. The 31-year-old and 20-year-old male occupants, both from Charnwood, were arrested and conveyed to the Regional Watch House.
Police will also allege a handgun and a carving knife were located at the time of the arrest.
The 20-year-old man has been charged with one count of attempted aggravated robbery and will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court later this morning (June 29). The 31-year-old man is expected to be charged with attempted aggravated robbery and theft of a motor vehicle and will front an ACT Magistrate today.
