Oaklands Park man faces court for possession of amphetamines and drug trafficking

A 53-year old Oaklands Park man will appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court today after being arrested by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) for drug offences on 8 April 2009.

It will be alleged in court that AFP agents arrested the man following a drug transaction.

During searches of a vehicle, $85,000 in cash and 453 grams of methamphetamine were located.

The Oaklands Park man has been charged with:

  • dealing in proceeds of crime - money or property worth $ 50,000 or more, contrary to section 400.5(2) of the Criminal Code Act 1995,
  • trafficking a controlled drug, contrary to section 302.4(1) of the Criminal Code Act 1995, and
  • trafficking marketable quantities of controlled drugs, contrary to section 302.3(1) of the Criminal Code Act 1995.

The maximum penalty for these offences is 25 years imprisonment or a $550,000 fine.

Charges were later laid by the South Australian Police against the driver of a semi trailer in relation to the possession of 13.74 kilograms of cannabis.
