Victorian man charged with possessing child abuse images

Australian Federal Police (AFP) today arrested a 25-year-old Mildura man for the possession of child exploitation material.
A warrant was executed this morning at the man’s Mildura residence by the AFP’s Child Protection Operations Team.
During the execution of the search warrant, computers were located and seized.
Police will allege in court that the man possessed child abuse images on his computer.
The man was charged with possessing child pornography, contrary to Section 70(1) of the Crimes Act (Vic) 1958 and using a carriage service to access child pornography material, contrary to section 474.19 (1)(a)(i) of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth).
He was bailed in Mildura Magistrates Court today and is due to reappear on 1 September 2009.
The maximum penalty for these offences is 10 years imprisonment.
