The Australian Bomb Data Centre (ABDC) deals with the following range of bomb-related incidents:
An incident involving the detonation of one or more IEDs (This definition includes illegally used military explosive ordnance).
An incident involving the use of one or more IEDs, which have failed to function because of an assembly or design defect, component failure or a successful render-safe procedure.
An item that is placed, designed or manufactured in a manner intended to cause another person to believe the item is an IED.
The recovery of:
- complete IEDs, components or explosives/incendiary materials, where there is reason to believe that there was an intention to construct an IED;
- an IED before it was placed, armed or laid; or
- items previously stolen or acquired for, or as a result of, unlawful activities.
The theft of explosives and accessories.
