The Commissioner’s Group Citation for Bravery is awarded to a group who performed, in the discharge of their duties, acts of collective bravery of a high order and placed themselves at substantial risk of injury.

The Commissioner’s Group Citation for Bravery is considered for a group of individuals who in the course of their duty or, whilst on service as an employee or, attached to the organisation, and performed an act of bravery of high order. They will have moved from a place of safety to a place of danger in order to save or protect another person, persons or property, or for the success of a particular operation, and in doing so risked significant personal injury or their own lives. Members of the group each receive the award.

If in the event where an individual is awarded the citation on a further occasion, a new citation is awarded with a silver numeral applicable to the issue occasion.

The Commissioner’s Group Citation for Bravery consists of a maroon, blue and white striped ribbon in an antique silver frame. These colours are representative of the traditional blue for police, red for danger and white for peace and purity, and complement the colours of the Australian flag.
