The Commissioner’s Medal for Excellence is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated sustained excellence in the pursuit of the AFP’s core business outcomes and encompassing corporate values to the highest level.
The Commissioner’s Medal for Excellence is awarded to individuals if they have demonstrated sustained excellence over a period of time where the service was pivotal to the success of that project or operation. They will have demonstrated an action which espouses the highest corporate values of the AFP.
Design
The Commissioner’s Medal for Excellence is a circular antique bronze coloured medal suspended from a pivoting scroll ribbon with a laurel suspension bar. The obverse depicts a stylised Indigenous x-ray image of the AFP platypus symbol. Around the rim is the text ‘COMMISSIONER’S MEDAL FOR EXCELLENCE’. The reverse depicts a simplified outer wreath of laurel leaves within which the recipient’s name is engraved.
The medal ribbon has three thin central stipes of dark blue representing police, flanked by four thin stripes of white, representing integrity and peace. The outer light blue stripes represents the AFP police uniform, whilst the broad dark blue stripes represents the colours of the ACT.
