The National Police Service Medal recognises the unique contribution and significant commitment of those who have given ethical and diligent service as a sworn member of an Australian police service.

The National Police Service Medal is awarded for 15 years ethical and diligent service as a sworn member of an Australian police service.

The police officer must have been serving on or after 14 February 1975. The National Police Service Medal can be awarded to police officers who have served less than 15 years if that service was terminated due to the member’s death, or to an impairment related to the discharge of their duties as a Constable of Police.

For AFP employees, this medal is automatically processed for issue by AFP Honours and Awards when all eligibility criteria are met. There is no need to apply.

For former AFP employees where the AFP was your last policing jurisdiction, please complete the application form and send it to AFP Honours and Awards.
