Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Australians

The Australian Federal Police values diversity and is committed to promoting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Australians affairs internally and externally through community engagement practices. To facilitate these outcomes, the AFP has in place some major strategies to guide recruitment, retention, communication and culture initiatives. This is an ongoing process and the AFP is continuing to develop new initiatives to improve the employment opportunities for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Australians in the AFP.

Every role in the AFP is available to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Australians. The AFP is committed to provide employment pathways for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Australians and, in addition to our general recruitment programs, we offer a range of targeted entry-level options such as the Directions Program Traineeship.

The Malunggang Indigenous Officers Network (MION) is a voluntary internal network which fosters and supports the recruitment, retention and career development of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Australians.
