Congo-born man charged with alleged visa breaches in WA

A Republic of the Congo-born man is expected to appear before Northbridge Magistrates Court today (21 February, 2026) charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated conditions.

The AFP charged the man yesterday (20 February, 2026) after he was located in Perth.

It will be alleged the man breached a condition of his Commonwealth visa by failing to observe his residential curfew obligations.

The man, 34, has been charged with one count of failing to comply with visa curfew conditions, contrary to section 76C(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and/or a $99,000 fine.
