Fourth man charged following Brighton incident

Police from the Victorian Joint Counter Terrorism Team have charged a fourth man today following the alleged terrorist incident in Brighton on 5 June.

A 36 year-old Greenvale man has been charged with a range of offences after it was alleged he helped supply a firearm used in the incident last week.

 He has been charged with:  

  • Two (2) counts of Non prohibited person possess/carry/use Category A firearm that is not registered, contrary to S.6 (a) of the Firearms Act 1996
  • Two (2) counts of Unlicensed Dealer of a Category A Firearm, contrary to S.59 (1) of the Firearms Act 1996;
  • Two (2) counts of Possess Cartridge Ammunition without Licence or Permit, contrary to S.124 (1) of the Firearms Act 1996

He is scheduled to appear in the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court tonight (Friday 16 June 2017)

A 47 year old West Meadows man, a 25-year-old Gladstone Park man and a 30-year-old Ascot Vale man have already been charged with firearm offences relating to the alleged terrorist incident in Brighton last week.
