JACET Arrest of Scarborough Man

A 61-year-old Scarborough man will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on 12 January 2017 charged with possess child exploitation material.

In December 2016, the Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET) commenced an investigation in response to allegations of inappropriate photographs of girls being taken.

As part of the JACET investigation, detectives executed a search warrant on Monday, 16 December 2016 at a residence in Scarborough where they seized a computer and electronic storage devices.

It will be alleged that the devices belonged to the man and analysis of the devices identified images of child exploitation material.

The man was employed as a Physical Education teacher at a public metropolitan high school.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives continue to analyse information obtained from the seized storage devices.

The JACET is a taskforce which brings together the Australian Federal Police and Western Australia Police to combat online child exploitation, as part of a collaborative and coordinated national platform for policing agencies to address the abhorrent activity associated with child exploitation.
