Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team Arrest

The Western Australia Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET) has charged a 37-year-old Mt. Lawley man with possession of child exploitation material, following information received by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) in May.

The man is a registered teacher and employed at a private school in Western Australia.  He has been stood down pending his appearance in court.

It will be alleged in court the man was in possession of child exploitation material.  On Tuesday 24 May 2016, JACET officers executed a search warrant on the man’s home where digital evidence was seized. 

The 37-year-old man was apprehended and charged with Possession of child exploitation material.

The man was bailed to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on 23 June 2016.

The maximum penalty for this offence is seven years imprisonment.

JACET is a taskforce bringing together the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and WA Police to combat online child sexual exploitation.
