Man charged with firearm offence and breach of bail

The New South Wales Joint Counter Terrorism Team (JCTT) has arrested a 21-year-old man as part of the ongoing investigation by Strike Force Peqin/Fellows.

The man was arrested at 9.55am today (Wednesday 21 December 2016) at Westmead by investigators attached to the Joint Counter Terrorism Team Sydney, and officers from the Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad.

The man was taken to Parramatta Police Station where he was charged with Possess Unauthorised Pistol, Supply Firearm to Person Unauthorised to Possess, and Acquire Pistol Subject to Firearms Prohibition Order.

The 21-year-old man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.

Strike Force Peqin/Fellows is an operation run by the NSW JCTT to focus on the murder of Curtis Cheng outside the New South Wales Police Headquarters at Parramatta on 2 October 2015.

The JCTT advised there is no ongoing threat to the community.
