Two charged with proceeds of crime and drug offences

A multi-agency Joint Organised Crime Taskforce (JOCTF) investigation has seen a man and a woman charged with serious drug and proceeds of crime offences in Melbourne today (Wednesday, 18 May 2016).
The charging of these individuals comes following a long running JOCTF and Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity (ACLEI) investigation into drug trafficking and dealing in the proceeds of crime activities.
Investigators executed a number of search warrants today in the Melbourne suburbs of Thomastown, Gladstone Park and Richmond.
During the search warrants police seized cash, drugs, drug distribution equipment and luxury goods including watches and handbags.
A 30-year-old Thomastown man was subsequently charged with trafficking and possessing a drug of dependence, knowingly dealing in the proceeds of crime, dealing in property reasonably suspected of being the proceeds of crime and theft of Commonwealth property.
A 30-year old Gladstone Park woman has been charged with knowingly dealing in the proceeds of crime and dealing in property reasonably suspected of being the proceeds of crime.
The maximum penalty for these offences is imprisonment for up to 15 years. Investigations are continuing into these matters.
The JOCTF, which comprises the Australian Federal Police, Victoria Police, Australian Border Force and the Australian Crime Commission, works together to target organised crime in Victoria.
