Queen’s Birthday Honours for four AFP members

Australian Federal Police (AFP) acting Commissioner Michael Phelan has today congratulated four long-serving AFP members who have been recognised for their dedication and commitment to the AFP and community.

Commander Grant Edwards and Detective Superintendent Kirsty Schofield are the recipients of the Australian Police Medal in recognition of their distinguished service.

Commander Edwards is recognised for his role in international policing and National Operations.

Detective Superintendent Kirsty Schofield is recognised for her role in Counter Terrorism and National Security Operations, and advancing the profile and professionalism of women in policing.

AFP Chief Operating Officer Andrew Wood was awarded the Australian Public Service Medal in recognition of his outstanding service.

Assistant Commissioner David Sharpe is the recipient of an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his outstanding services and commitment to rugby league and the community.

Acting Commissioner Michael Phelan said the AFP members were all well-deserving of the recognition for their outstanding contribution to the AFP and community.

“These four members continue to provide outstanding and important service to the AFP and the wider community,” said acting Commissioner Phelan

“We are truly proud of their achievements and delighted that they have received these awards today. Congratulations from me, the AFP executive and all of your colleagues in the AFP,” acting Commissioner Phelan said.
