Two charged with serious drug offences

This is a joint media release between the Australian Federal Police and Western Australia Police.

Detectives from Western Australia’s National Anti-Gang Squad (NAGS) have charged two people in relation to the seizure of a large amount of Methylamphetamine and Cocaine in Perth on Monday, 19 March 2018.

As part of the final phase of an operation targeting the distribution of illicit drugs in the Perth area, detectives executed search warrants at an apartment and a hotel, both in Perth, and it will be alleged the following was located at those locations:

  • Approximately 7.4kg of Methylamphetamine
  • Approximately 1.5kg of Cocaine
  • Over $13,000 cash

A 24-year-old woman linked to the apartment has been charged with:

  • Possessed a Trafficable Quantity of Methylamphetamine with Intent to Sell or Supply
  • Possession of Stolen or Unlawfully Obtained Property (Cash)

A 50-year-old man linked to the hotel room has been charged with:

  • Sold or Supplied, or Offered to Sell or Supply, a Trafficable Quantity of Methylamphetamine
  • Possessed a Trafficable Quantity of Methylamphetamine with Intent to Sell or Supply
  • Possession of Prohibited Drugs with Intent to Sell or Supply (Cocaine)
  • Possession of Stolen or Unlawfully Obtained Property (Cash)

They were refused bail and appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 20 March 2018. The 24-year-old woman is next due to appear in the same court on Wednesday, 28 March 2018, while the 50-year-old man is next due to appear in the same court on Tuesday, 17 April 2018.

The operation has now concluded.
