Voting for the proposed Australian Federal Police (AFP) Enterprise Agreement 2017 – 2020 (EA) closed at 4pm today (10 July 2017).

The proposed EA has been rejected. The current terms and conditions will remain in place until an Agreement can be re-negotiated and put forward for consideration.

The participation rate was 87.2 per cent of eligible voters, representing strong staff engagement throughout the voting period.

Pending formal audit, the final figures of the vote are as follows:

            No:  4378 votes = 80.88 per cent

            Yes: 1035 votes = 19.12 per cent

Acting Commissioner Michael Phelan said a series of staff focus groups will be established to provide insight into the range of issues important to staff.

“Later this week I will appoint an executive to lead the renegotiations.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the AFP Lead Negotiator, the EA Bargaining Team and each of the bargainers, for their hard work in negotiating and presenting the proposed EA to AFP staff,” Acting Commissioner Phelan said.
