WA man charged with child exploitation offences

This is a joint media release between the Australian Federal Police and Western Australia Police.

A 56-year-old Spearwood man will appear before the Fremantle Magistrates Court today (26 August 2016) charged with child exploitation offences.

It will be alleged between August and October 2014, the man uploaded over 200 images of child exploitation material to various social media sites.

On Friday 29 July 2016, Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET) detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in Spearwood where they seized a computer and electronic storage devices.  Analysis of the devices identified images of child exploitation material.

The man has been charged with:

  • 13 counts of Use Carriage Service to Distribute Child Exploitation Material and
  • One count of Possession of Child Exploitation Material. 

The JACET is a taskforce which brings together the Australian Federal Police and Western Australia Police to combat online child exploitation, as part of a collaborative and coordinated national platform for policing agencies to address the abhorrent activity associated with child exploitation.
