Summer of Hope

For families across Australia struggling with the disappearance of a loved one, the normally happy holiday season can be an emotionally difficult time. For these families, events such as Christmas, family holidays, wedding anniversaries and birthdays, act as triggers, re-evoking memories and thoughts, both good and bad of their missing loved one.

For these families it is 'hope' which will help them get through each day, it is this 'hope' that also inspires the annual 'Summer of Hope' campaign.

The National Missing Persons Coordination Centre, in partnership with Chemist Warehouse, will profile a series of long-term missing persons, in the hope of providing long awaited answers to their family and friends this holiday season.

Over the summer period you will see a weekly missing persons profile on the AFP Facebook page, and in Chemist Warehouse stores and catalogues around the country.

We encourage everyone to take the time to look through the profiles of missing persons, and share this information with your social network - you or someone you know may have that small piece of information that will assist police in providing these answers.

We also encourage anyone who may be estranged from their loved ones to make contact this Christmas. Going missing is not a crime and making contact does not mean you will need to return home.

The AFP and Chemist Warehouse share the belief that 'Every Second Counts' when it comes to locating missing persons. Together we can make a difference.
