INTERPOL enquiries

The International Criminal Police Organisation (ICPO) is also known as INTERPOL. Its role is to ensure and promote the widest possible mutual assistance between all criminal police authorities within the limits of the laws of the countries, and in the spirit of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Additionally, its purpose is to establish and develop all institutions likely to contribute effectively to the prevention and detection of ordinary law crimes. The organisation is strictly forbidden to undertake any intervention or activities of a political, military, religious or racial character.

The Australian INTERPOL contact point is known as the National Central Bureau (NCB) and in Australia is hosted by the Australian Federal Police.

INTERPOL facilitates cross-border police co-operation, and supports and assists all organisations, authorities and services whose mission is to prevent or combat international crime. Read more on INTERPOL's website.
