According to Commander Richard Chin, different is beautiful and difference is celebrated at the AFP.
Born in Brunei, Richard and his parents migrated to Australia when he was a young boy. He has found that coming from a culturally and linguistically diverse background has helped him thrive in the AFP. Richard is a living example of how the AFP fosters employees of different backgrounds. His family thought, as a police officer, he would be rolling around with criminals. He soon demonstrated that a role in the AFP is much more complex than that.
As part of the AFP, Richard is committed to developing a workforce that reflects the communities we serve. To Richard, work is not just a job— there is heart that goes into it and it’s the reason why people stay with the AFP for a long time.
