Ironside: Sydney man arrested after cocaine and $100,000 cash found in kitchen kickboards

A Sydney man has been arrested after $100,000 in cash and 1.3kg of cocaine was found hidden in kitchen kickboards in a home in Maroubra, NSW.
Operation Ironside intelligence revealed a 48-year-old Maroubra man was allegedly involved in the trafficking of cocaine on an ongoing basis.
On 8 June 2021, the AFP executed a search warrant on a premises in Maroubra, in Sydney’s east. During the search warrant police located approximately $100,000 in cash, approximately 1.3kg of cocaine, a quantity of green organic plant material and other drug paraphernalia. The cocaine and cash were secreted in a kickboard of the kitchen in the premises.
The 48-year-old man was arrested and charged with:
- Trafficking marketable quantities of controlled drugs, contrary to section 302.3(1) of the Criminal Code (Cth); and
- Intend as instrument of crime – money or property worth $100,000 or more contrary to section 400.4(1) of the Criminal Code (Cth).
The maximum penalty for these offences are 25 years’ imprisonment and 20 years’ imprisonment, respectively.
The 48-year-old man is next due to appear in Sydney Central Local Court on 4 August 2021.
AFP Detective Acting Inspector Luke Wilson said the level of intelligence gathered from Operation Ironside is unprecedented and continues to lead to more people being charged.
“This outcome is another example of the hard work the AFP is doing to combat illegal activities and keep the community safe,” Detective Acting Inspector Wilson said.
