Man in WA charged with alleged visa breach

An Kuwaiti-born man is expected to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today (20 February, 2024) charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa conditions on two occasions in Western Australia.

The AFP arrested and charged the man, 43, after locating him in Perth yesterday (19 February, 2024).

It will be alleged the man breached the conditions of his Commonwealth visa over a two-day period (18-19 February, 2024) by failing to comply with his curfew conditions.

The man has been charged with:

  • Two counts of failing to comply with a requirement of the monitoring conditions, contrary to section 76B of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and a $93,900 fine.
