Man in Western Australia charged over alleged visa breach
An Iranian man is expected to appear in Northbridge Magistrates Court tomorrow (Tuesday 26 December, 2023), for allegedly failing to comply with his visa mandated curfew.
The AFP arrested and charged the man, 38, on December 24, 2023, after locating him at a Perth property.
It will be alleged the man breached the conditions of his Commonwealth visa on 24 December, 2023.
The man was charged with:
- One count of failing to comply with a curfew condition, contrary to section 76C(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).
This offence carries a maximum penalty of 5 years’ imprisonment and a $93,900 fine.
No further comment will be made.
