Tonga - Australia Policing Partnership

Tonga

Tonga-Australia Policing Partnership program

We have been delivering policing assistance in Tonga since 2006. We lead the Tonga-Australia Policing Partnership (TAPP) capability building program that aims to:

  • enhance national security
  • improve frontline response to survivors of family violence
  • strengthen capacity and capability for ethical and effective policing.

TAPP supports the Tongan Police to achieve its goal of becoming a 'trusted and respected policing service that works in partnership to reduce crime and build safe and secure communities'.

Other support

Families Free of Violence Program

The Families Free of Violence (FFOV) program is an Australian government initiative, implemented by the AFP in cooperation the Tongan Government.

The program provides support for survivors of family violence to access better quality services and ongoing support. It also delivers support across policing and community services agencies and institutions to help improve service delivery, particularly to women, children and diverse groups.

Partners include the Women Affairs and Gender Equality Division, the Tonga Police and the Civil Society Forum of Tonga.
